The Digital Education Observatory (DEO) at the University of Barcelona, precisely analyzes the impact of ICT and the Information Society in education and, specifically, new forms of literacy and learning. Its mission is the study and analysis of educational and pedagogical models that are developed in environments and digital systems in specific socioeducational and complexes contexts.
Focusing on its line of development in a wide range of views that emphasize the long life learning perspective, the centralism in the competences learning for personal development in a complex society and for the access to job, with current trends based on the technology use in the workplace, formal and informal models and digital literacy at the daily life.
The aims of the Digital Education Observatory are:
- The content, applications and environments design and development for digital learning.
- The analysis of the systems, environments and methodologies that are used in teaching and learning blended environments (or hybrids) and completely virtual.
- The study of the educational changes and new ways of communication that arise in the Digital Society: especially the analysis and monitoring of digital literacies and the new digital practices (informative and communicatives).
Researchers who are part of the Observatory come mainly from research groups at the University of Barcelona. Additionally, teachers from others univerisities and associate members from Latin american universities participate with us. Master's degree and PhD students contribute usually in search tasks and organizing information.
